Head of State concerned about cybernetic security

Luanda, ANGOLA, June 20 - The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, last Tuesday announced the creation of a legislative environment that will have into account the need to protect public and private data in the use of information and communication technologies. ,

In a globalised world, said the Head of State, cyber security must not be ignored by anyone using Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs).

The Angolan President was delivering a speech at a forum on ICTs which is running until this Thursday, in Luanda.

He went on to say that the ICTs are an important factor for technical, scientific, economic development, as well as for cultural interchange and unity among peoples.

However, he emphasised, the ICTs have also been used for not so noble purposes and even for crimes.

He underscored that it is a role of the state to stimulate and promote the use and development of the information and communication technologies.

He then reiterated the need for young people to beware of the bad use of ICTs and be cautious not to infringe the rights of others or become a victim.

President João Lourenço also encouraged young people to create applications software and compete with other young scientists from other parts of the world.

He also admitted that there is a need to invest greatly in the training of engineers and computer technology experts.
