President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed the laws on ratification of the agreement between Ukraine and the Kingdom of the Netherlands on international legal cooperation on crimes related to the crash of the Malaysian Airlines MH17 flight aircraft on July 17, 2014 and implementation of this agreement, the presidential press service has reported.

The ratification of the agreement and the implementation of its provisions into the national legislation ensures cooperation between the competent authorities of both states, determines the procedure and specifics of implementing certain procedural actions within the framework of the agreement with a view to effective criminal prosecution and conviction of persons involved in the plane crash within the Dutch judicial system.

In particular, the matter concerns the peculiarities of transferring criminal proceedings by Ukraine to the Netherlands, implementing the request by the competent authority of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to ensure the participation of the person as a defendant in judicial proceedings in the Netherlands in a videoconference mode, executing the request of the competent authority of the Netherlands to interrogate the witness or the expert in a videoconference mode.
