Trump nominates Navy Pacific commander as U.S. ambassador to Seoul

The choice to send Adm. Harris is a good one. He's not the expert we should send, but far better than the political hacks and hedge fund managers Trump would have likely sent.

There could be some latent opposition to Harris in some nationalist Korean circles because he is Japanese-American, but I think that his status as a four star military officer would override such objections.

China made a bit of a racist issue over Admiral Harris, but to my knowledge South Korea never has. Especially since the South Korean military are far more pro US and pro Japan than the general populace.
