Dubai Airshow 2017, which is the biggest international aviation exhibition, is being held in Dubai.

More than 1,200 exhibited items from more than 60 countries and more than 160 modern aircraft were showcased at the exhibition. Dubai Airshow 2017 is the world's leading event in the civil and military aircraft industry.

Azerbaijan is represented at Dubai Airshow 2017 by the official delegation consisting of Kamaladdin Heydarov, head of the country’s Ministry of Emergency Situations, Jahangir Asgarov, president of the Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL), Ramiz Tahirov, the country’s deputy minister of defense, Dashgin Shikarov, Azerbaijani ambassador to the UAE, Parviz Ismayilzade, consul general of Azerbaijan in Dubai, and others.

Following the negotiations, agreements were signed and a number of key agreements were reached in civil aviation as part of the exhibition.

Asgarov, as well as President, Chief Executive Officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes Kevin McAllister and President, Chief Executive Officer of Boeing Global Services Stan Deal signed one of the most important agreements to buy 5 aircraft B787-8 Dreamliner and 2 aircraft B747-8F (or B777F). The agreement is estimated at $1.9 billion. The aircraft is planned to be delivered in 2019-2020.

Another agreement was signed between AZAL and Rockwell Collins International, Inc for the supply of on-board electronics, entertainment systems and communication equipment for the new Boeing 737 MAX of the Azerbaijani national carrier.

Asgarov, as well as President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation John Slattery discussed further prospects of bilateral cooperation. Following the negotiations, an agreement was signed for the purchase of 2 Embraer 190 aircraft on leasing terms.

The Azerbaijani delegation also reviewed the stand of Dubai Airport Freezone.

Following the talks, Asgarov and President of Sukhoi Civil Aircraft JSC Alexander Rubtsov also reviewed a new business version of the Sukhoi Superjet 100.

Asgarov also held negotiations with Director General of the Russian Helicopters Holding Andrei Boginsky. Following the talks, Azerbaijan’s Silk Way Helicopter Services LLC obtained a license to repair and maintain all helicopters, including military ones.

Productive negotiations were also held with Leonardo company. Following the talks, an agreement for the purchase of the AgustaWestland AW169 helicopter for offshore operations, and AgustaWestland AW109 for aerial, photo and video shooting was signed.

Asgarov also held talks with Acting President of Antonov State Enterprise Alexander Krivokon. Following the talks, the agreement on joint production of AN-178 aircraft in Azerbaijan was reached.

As Silk Way Airlines bought AN-124 aircraft, during the meeting a decision was made on joint technical maintenance of this type of aircraft in Azerbaijan.

The signed agreements will give as an important stimulus for the further development of Azerbaijan's civil aviation and the creation of new jobs.
