Air Malta will start operating a twice weekly evening scheduled service to Sicily’s Comiso airport, on Fridays and Sundays, from December 17.

The airline said its Go-Light fares will apply on the route making it possible to fly for €39 per way including taxes and charges.

In summer the Maltese airline restarted scheduled services to Palermo. It also flies to Catania.

Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi said Air Malta's growth strategy was gaining momentum.

"Air Malta will be strengthening its operations in Sicily with a view to better serve
Sicilian tourists and business passengers who can connect to other destinations via Malta,” he said.

The flights will go on sale on Monday.
