American Airlines Cargo has announced an enhanced trans-Atlantic service for cargo customers this summer with direct service from key cities in Europe to six US gateways.

As the carrier prepares for the peak season, new routes and frequencies will also serve Latin America and Asia-Pacific, with larger aircraft being utilised to provide increased capacity.

Out of Europe, American Airlines Cargo will operate new flights from Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW); from Edinburgh Airport (EDI) and Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) to Philadelphia International Airport (PHL); and from Naples International Airport (NAP) and Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD) to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD).

Other flights will include from Athens International Airport (ATH) to Charlotte-Douglas International Airport (CLT), and from Rome-Fuimucino International Airport (FCO) to Miami International Airport (MIA).

In June, July and August, the airline expects to operate more than 4,000 monthly widebody flights between the US and Europe.

Also of note, London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to DFW increases to five daily flights in April, and flights from MIA to Buenos Aires International Airport (EZE) will increase to two daily for April through October.

Domestically, the carrier will also operate a significant widebody network with services between its largest hub at DFW and key US hubs including MIA, ORD and PHL.

Roger Samways, vice president of commercial for American Airlines Cargo, said: “We are excited about the many new routes out of Europe as well as the increased capacity in our Asia-Pacific region that our summer schedule will bring and look forward to the additional opportunities that this will provide to serve our customers.”
