Starting on June 15, a new European airline, Air Serbia, will enter the Georgian aviation market. The Georgian Airports Association has successfully concluded the negotiations with the Serbian flagship.
According to the Georgian Airports Association, the airline will operate direct regular flights from Belgrade to Tbilisi and vice versa with a frequency of 3 times a week, using Airbus 319 aircraft. According to the General Director of the Georgian Airports Association, Levan Moseshvili, there has never been a direct regular flight between Georgia and Serbia before.
"We are pleased that the Serbian flagship airline Air Serbia is entering the Georgian aviation market. The Georgian Airports Association has been negotiating with the airline for several years. Recently, it has become much more intense, and in the final phase, the operator of Tbilisi and Batumi airports, TAV Georgia, has been involved in the negotiations. Finally, we have agreed with the airline that during the summer navigation season, direct flights between our capitals will be operated three times a week.
The airline will operate between Belgrade and Tbilisi throughout the year," said Levan Moseshvili.
The Georgian Airports Association notes that Air Serbia is the successor to the first Serbian national airline, Aeroput, which was founded in 1927. In 2024, the total passenger flow between Georgia and Serbia amounted to 16,839 passengers. Which is 66% more than the data for 2023.
