Nearly 20K sign petition to rename Nashville airport after Dolly Parton
If the petition’s goal were to become a reality, the airport would be renamed, “Dolly Parton International Airport.”

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - An effort to rename the Nashville International Airport after The Queen of Country is gaining more steam.
A petition to rename BNA after Dolly Parton has gained more than 17,000 signatures since its creation in January.
If the petition’s goal were to become a reality, the airport would be renamed, “Dolly Parton International Airport.”
“It is only fitting that an institution as significant as Nashville International Airport carries the name of such a remarkable woman. Dolly has made substantial impacts on thousands of lives, especially through her Imagination Library program, which has gifted over 100 million books to children since it began in 1995,” the petition says.

The petition began just days after Tennessee lawmakers introduced a bill to rename BNA after President Donald Trump.
“She really represents the best of what Nashvillians and Tennesseans can be,” Dan Dion, who helped start the petition, said. “There is no other person that could bring us all together. That makes us all feel proud.”
The bill to rename BNA after Donald Trump was previously removed from consideration in February and failed in a House committee on Tuesday, March 18.
