
Biman Flight To London Returns Midway Due To Heathrow's Power Outage
Dhaka: Biman Bangladesh Airlines' flight BG-201 to London was forced to return to Dhaka midway as a fire nearby Heathrow airport led to its shutdown on March 21.
The flight departed from Dhaka for Heathrow via Zurich. It took off from Dhaka at 08:42 (local time) and made a brief stop at Zurich at 09:06 (local time), according to a release.
The flight, operated with a Boeing 787-9, continued its journey from Zurich at 10:46 (local time) for London, however, had to turn back midway, due to the unexpected power failure at Heathrow that led to the airport's shutdown, causing significant delays and operational difficulties.
With 267 passengers on board, including pilot and crew, the flight returned to Dhaka 13:15 (local time), as per Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport officials.
It may be mentioned here, Biman operates four weekly flights on Dhaka-London-Dhaka route via Zurich.
