Air New Zealand aims to boost its AI-driven digital transformation with TCS partnership
Global IT service, consulting, and business solutions company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), has signed a five-year deal with Air New Zealand to modernise the airline’s digital infrastructure and make it a leader in AI-driven innovation.
TCS will use AI-driven automation and cloud technologies to improve the flag carrier’s digital capabilities and operational efficiencies across its cargo service, fleet management, disruption management, retail offerings, maintenance systems, and crew operations, as well as to enhance the customer experience.
The IT company states that workforce transformation will be a key focus for the partnership, and it will lead a workforce transformation program to train the airline’s team in AI, cyber-security, and digital engineering.
Air New Zealand operates air passenger and cargo service across a network of 49 domestic and international destinations, and flies more than 15 million passengers annually, making it a leading carrier in the Oceanic region.
The new deal with Air New Zealand grows TCS’ client list, which currently includes Singapore Airlines, Air France-KLM, United, Scandinavian Airlines, and TAP Air Portugal.
At the same time, it will aid Air New Zealand in its mission to be the most digitally advanced airline and reinforce its commitment to digital innovation by streamlining its digital services across more than 600 applications.
Greg Foran, chief executive of Air New Zealand, said of the collaboration: “We began working with TCS in September 2024 and in just a few short months, we’ve seen the benefits of tapping into the depth and breadth of talent and expertise they have when it comes to digital solutions.
“Going forward, TCS will be an instrumental partner in helping us deliver our cargo digital transformation and improvements to our digital retail capability.”
Krithivasan, chief executive and managing director at TCS, added: “With our expertise in aviation, combined with our ability to drive large-scale innovation, TCS will enable Air New Zealand to set new benchmarks for efficiency, sustainability, and customer engagement.
“By leveraging AI, automation, and cloud technologies, we aim to reimagine operations, enhance passenger experiences, and build a more agile and resilient airline. This partnership reflects our commitment to helping global enterprises adapt, grow, and unlock new opportunities through technology.”
