GSSE 2023: Malta sets all-time gold medal record on third day

Team Malta’s clinched another three gold medals on Wednesday in the Games of the Small Nations being held in Malta, making it the best ever performance in such competitions – three days ahead of the closing.

Malta has son far won 12 gold medals, six silver and 13 bronze.

Veteran shooter Eleanor Bezzina won the gold medal in the 10m Air Pistol, while Camella Iacob won the gold in the women’s table tennis’ teams event against Monaco.

Malta’s third gold medal of the day came in the men’s table tennis team event, beating Monaco.

There were other medals won by Maltese athletes on Wednesday. Georgia Kate Bohl clinched silver in the women’s 200 metre breaststroke.

The 4x200 women’s freestyle team, composed of Mya Azzopardi, Francesca Falzon Young, Sasha Gatt and Sarah Demicoli, also finished second in their race.

Sasha Gatt won bronze in the women’s 400 metre freestyle while Dylan Cachia finished third in the men’s 400 metres freestyle,
