Australia’s Starward Whisky to highlight travel retail-exclusives at TFWA Asia Pacific

Starward’s core whiskies will lead its line-up at TFWA Singapore

AUSTRALIA. Melbourne-based craft distillery Starward Whisky is joining the TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition in Singapore this May (Stand 2-E19) as it seeks to strengthen its global expansion.

Its whiskies are currently available through various airport duty free retailers, including in Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Darwin, Adelaide, Singapore, Auckland, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and Honolulu.

Starward Commercial Director Scott English said: “Global Travel Retail is an unparalleled opportunity to engage with an audience who are keen to discover and explore something new. We’re excited to exhibit at TFWA for the first time this year, a chance for us to connect with new customers and continue our journey to bring our Melbourne-made whisky to the world.”

Starward’s distillery is located in Melbourne, where the ‘four seasons in one day’ weather allows its whisky to mature in just three years

The company crafts its products from local ingredients and matures them in barrels sourced from the Australian wine industry to represent a ‘distinctly Australian spirit’

Starward is set to spotlight its core range of whiskies, each presented in a travel retail-exclusive one-litre bottle. The selection showcases Starward’s signature red wine barrel maturation, with each whisky notable for a distinct flavour or process.

Among the expressions in the range is Two-Fold, which features a blend of wheat and single malt whisky. It offers a balance of juicy red fruit, oak spice, and sweet vanilla characters.

The single malts pictured above are all made using homegrown malted barley, brewed like a craft beer and distilled specifically to bring out the brand’s signature fruity spirit.

Starward’s signature single malt whisky Nova will be highlighted at the Singapore show. It combines aromatic notes of red berries, chocolate, and soft oak spice.

The company will also be showcasing its very first whisky, Solera. Crafted using the traditional solera process, it offers a rich blend of fig and caramel with a lingering dry spice.

The brand will also present Fortis, known as 100 Proof in the US. Championing Australian ingredients, this single malt whisky is described as rich and full-bodied. It is bottled as the US moniker suggests at 100 proof.

Starward will also highlight limited releases from its Projects series, the fruition of its distillers experimenting with speciality ingredients, barrels and processes to create “flavour-forward and unique expressions”,

The company has stepped up its global expansion over the last three years, helped by in 2022 being named the World’s Most Awarded Distillery at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

The brand has launched in New Zealand, US, Germany, UK, France, and Japan, and established its position in the travel retail market with key partners including DFS, Dufry, Heinemann, Lotte Duty Free, ARI and Lagardère Travel Retail. Through driving distribution in these key markets, Starward said it looks forward to continued growth in years to come. ✈
