Lufthansa Group’s airline Eurowings has expanded its direct flight destinations from Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) in Germany.

Following the start of the summer flight schedule at the end of March next year, passengers will be able to choose from around 30 destinations with Eurowings.

These destinations include Malaga, Alicante, Antalya, Graz, Larnaca and Rhodes. The airline is also planning more flights to Berlin holiday destinations.

In addition, Eurowings is focusing on expanding services to Northern Europe, including destinations such as Copenhagen, Gothenburg and Helsinki.

The budget carrier intends to place six aircraft at BER in the future and aims to include the fourth aircraft in the current 2022/23 winter flight schedule.

Eurowings CEO Jens Bischof said: “Berlin is and will remain an absolute tourist magnet and one of the most exciting metropolises in Europe, both culturally and historically.

“Therefore, it’s only logical for us as a German airline to expand our presence and bring more Eurowings’ flights to the capital.”

Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg CEO Aletta von Massenbach said: “Doubling the aircraft fleet and connections at the capital airport by Eurowings is a powerful signal.

“The expansion of Eurowings’ services at BER means that the partnership will be further consolidated and the airport location’s connectivity extended.

“We would like to thank Eurowings and the Lufthansa Group for increasing their involvement and for their confidence in BER and the capital region.”

With more than 4,000 employees, Eurowings has holiday destinations in Mallorca, the Canary Islands, Greece, Croatia and Egypt on its schedule.

The company said it provides ‘a high number of connections’ to Cologne, Düsseldorf and Stuttgart for passengers in Berlin.

It currently has 11 international bases, including one in Mallorca.

Last June, Eurowings announced plans to begin operations at Malmö Airport in Sweden through a new direct service to Pristina, Kosovo.
