Changes to FedExForum are reflecting the growing interest in the Memphis Grizzlies after a 56-win season, and the result has been ticket sales nearing an "all-time high," vice president of ticket sales & service Dennis O'Connor said Thursday.

The interest has spurred additions throughout FedExForum, from the event level to the top bowl of the terrace level seating.

The most notable change is the addition of the Big River Steel Edge, located on the FedExForum terrace level. The renovated space is between sections 201 and 232, featuring a standing room area where fans can walk around and socialize. This new area also includes 34 TVs and features an outdoor seating area.

This addition comes while the Grizzlies are gaining fanfare locally and nationally. The heightened attention has led to an increased demand in ticket sales. Season tickets are sold out for the plaza and pinnacle levels. Terrace level season tickets remain available.

The Grizzlies partnered with U.S. Steel's Big River Steel, which opened in Arkansas in 2014. Fans can get their first look at the space on Oct. 3 when the Grizzlies host the Orlando Magic in a preseason game.

Arena seating was removed in this area, but the Grizzlies also added approximately 28 seats and a fourth row of floor level seating on the Grizzlies' end of the baseline. Extra rows were also added in sections 101 through 118 while decreasing aisle spacing. The new standing room area leads Grizzlies officials to believe the overall change in capacity will cancel out with the additions and seat removals.

Standing room only tickets will be available, the Grizzlies said. The tickets will be cheaper than terrace level seating, but the pricing will vary based on demand and opponent. Grizzlies officials view it as a cover-charge concept, with fans from all around the arena being able to experience the space if they choose.

Other changes include the enhancement of the fan experience on the floor level. Sissy's Log Cabin has partnered with the Grizzlies to provide a floor seat lounge. The jewelry company will also produce customized branded Grizzlies jewelry.

Self-service refill machines throughout the arena and a new Grab n' Go option outside of section 104 are two examples of how speed of service will be an emphasis this season. In the same area, a Zandria's Dessert Boutique will be the first dessert vending machine in FedExForum. The higher demand could lead tolonger lines, but the Grizzlies are bringing an airport-like feel in hopes of making those transitions quicker.

"We really want to give guests the self service aspect and that speed of service so they don't have to get back in line to get refills and things like that," said Jake Carlisle, director of operations for Levy Restaurants at FedExForum.
