OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt and representatives from the City of OKC will give a winter weather situation update at approximately 1:30 p.m.

City crews have been gearing up for this multiple day winter event.

Officials say plows are out clearing the snow routes. The City has also contracted with several third-parties to support the effort to clear streets.

Will Rogers World Airport has had about 66 arrivals and departures canceled for Sunday. Please call the airline if you have a flight scheduled or are supposed to pick up someone.

The Homeless Alliance and Salvation Army have shelters open to assist those in need.

The City would like for anyone in need of a warming center it is located at 1400 NW 3rd the Willard Center. There is a need for financial donations instead of clothing, gloves, or coats. There is a time for the need for those items but right now the need is for monetary donations to purchase emergency items.

Officials remind you to let your faucet drip or have a pencil-width stream to help keep your pipes from freezing.

EMBARK is maintaining its regular Sunday schedule but do encourage you to stay home if possible. Check their web site for updates on all services.

If people need to get to a warming center, mention it to the EMBARK driver and they will be able to provide the service free of charge.

OKC Service Area 

For service Monday, February 15, EMBARK will operate its weekend service schedule, which includes one-hour frequency on most routes from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. EMBARK will announce by 3 p.m. each day if the service plan will extend to the next day and if further modifications are needed.

Transportation to the municipal warming center at Red Andrews Park from the Willard Center and Homeless Alliance will continue and is free for any resident needing transit to and from a warming center or shelter. 

EMBARK Plus ADA Transportation and OKC Streetcar will maintain normal service with delays of 30 to 60 minutes possible. Customers are encouraged to call their destination to verify hours before making the trip and to cancel or reschedule their trip by calling 405-235-7587 (PLUS).

EMBARK Mobility Management services will not run.

Winter route detours will also be in effect.

Norman Service Area 

For service Monday, February 15, EMBARK Norman will operate hourly Saturday service schedules on routes 110, 111, and 112 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. EMBARK will announce by 3 p.m. each day if the service plan will extend to the next day and if further modifications are needed.

EMBARK Plus ADA Transportation will only operate Zone 1 service with delays of 30 to 60 minutes possible. Customers are encouraged to call their destination to verify hours before making the trip and to cancel or reschedule their trip by calling 405-325-5438.

City Trash Collection:

Oklahoma City is postponing trash, recycling and bulky waste collection for Monday, Feb. 15 due to current weather conditions.

Weather pending, residents who have weekly Monday trash collection will need to set their trash out by 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 17. Residents whose recycling date is Monday, Feb. 15 will also need to set their recycling out on Wednesday by 6 a.m.

As the situation is ongoing, crews will assess the conditions for Tuesday’s collection and make a determination sometime tomorrow.

Residents whose bulky trash collection begins on Monday, Feb. 15 are asked to set out their bulky when it is safe to do so and crews will collect it before end-of-business on Saturday, Feb., 20.

The City will provide another storm update on Monday afternoon.
