Two power shutdowns planned for the coming week at Malta International Airport. The first shutdown between 11:00pm of January 11th and 4:00am of January 12th, and the second on January 15th between midnight and 3:00am.

The shutdowns will take place during periods that were identified as the airport’s quietest times, it said.

MIA explained in a statement, that the planned outages will enable it to safely conduct works as part of an electrical infrastructure upgrade and ensure the successful completion of this important modernisation exercise.

It said that the company’s investment in more modern electrical infrastructure will contribute to enhanced levels of safety as well as a more reliable electricity supply, whilst simultaneously increasing capacity for future growth.

“Whilst the shutdowns are not expected to impact airport guests,” Malta International Airport advised that most of the terminal and car park lighting will be affected.

It went on to say that, additionally, some of the lifts and escalators around the terminal will be out of order, while certain services will not be available during the outages.

Malta International Airport stated that “whilst these shutdowns are not expected to impact flights,” it apologised for any inconvenience airport guests may encounter as a result of these works.
