Major airlines are still cancelling flights to a host of destinations amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Travel restrictions have affected trips abroad for months and the situation hasn't returned to normality yet.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office still advises against non-essential travel to a number of countries - with travel to the likes of Spain, France and Italy subject to ongoing quarantine rules.

And local restrictions, such as the firebreak in Wales, prohibit non-essential travel across the UK as well.

Many families may be hoping the situation will soon improve though so they can enjoy a winter getaway.

So what holidays are currently on offer through major airlines? Here are the most recent updates.

Ryanair

Ryanair is operating flights to countries on the quarantine list

Ryanair is continuing to operate flights - even to popular destinations included on the quarantine list.

This includes flights to locations like Barcelona and Budapest from Manchester Airport this month.

The budget airline however is said to have reduced its capacity amid a loss of business at the moment.

Its change fee waiver has been extended again though, now including flights up until December this year.

This means customers can transfer flights and change destinations for the coming weeks free of charge.

And looking further ahead, the airline has announced significant cuts to its winter flight schedule this year.

Ryanair told the BBC that it will operate at only 40 percent of last year's capacity over the coming months.

It said that this was due to increased flight restrictions which have been imposed because of the pandemic.

And according to the airline, this has now led to "materially" weaker bookings in November and December.

The winter cuts also mean that Ryanair's bases in Cork, Shannon and Toulouse will be temporarily closing.

The airline expects to maintain 65 percent of routes though, but with reduced frequencies and availability.

easyJet

easyJet is said to have cancelled a number of its package holidays to areas currently on the quarantine list.

As reported by MyLondon recently, this is understood to affect some bookings to Spain, France and Italy.

The airline however is continuing to operate some flights to destinations subject to self-isolation rules.

Those travelling from Manchester Airport can still fly this week to Paris, Milan and Amsterdam.

The easyJet website also offers flights to other areas like Athens, Belfast, Krakow and Malta.

And the travel provider is preparing to restart a number of additional routes ahead of winter.

This includes travel to the Canary Islands, including to Tenerife, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.

TUI

And it's understood that a number of destinations won't be available over winter, with TUI flights to Florida reportedly cancelled until December 1 and trips to Phu Quoc in Vietnam off until January 1, 2021.

Customers however can already book winter holidays to a host of destinations including St. Lucia.

The TUI website states that its December trips include to Portugal, Cuba, Spain and even Lapland.

Jet2

Jet2 has been updating its schedule over recent weeks amid ongoing changes to the quarantine list.

Most recently, the airline has resumed flights to Crete, including from Manchester Airport, in October.

Those travelling from this airport in November will also be able to go to the following destinations:

The travel provider however has also cancelled a number of flights amid the coronavirus restrictions.

This is understood to include holidays to Egypt, Mexico, mainland Spain, Turkey, Portugal and the USA.

Jet2 has also unfortunately confirmed that a number of its holidays won't be operating over winter.

This includes trips to destinations in Spain including Barcelona and Alicante as well as Palma on Majorca.

It's confirmed that a number of holidays won't resume until early next year, as reported by Leeds Live.
