COVID-19: One new imported case, one recovers on Friday

Việt Nam on Friday confirmed one new case of COVID-19 – a Vietnamese citizen who returned from Cameroon and was quarantined on arrival at Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport on June 25, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam on Friday confirmed one new case of COVID-19 – a Vietnamese citizen who returned from Cameroon and was quarantined on arrival at Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport on June 25, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

With the imported case, the tally in Việt Nam is now 353 including 213 imported cases that were all quarantined upon arrival.

Patient 353 is a 31-year-old man from Hà Nội’s Thạch Thất District. He returned from Cameroon, transited in Nigeria, Ethiopia and Malaysia and arrived at Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport on June 25.

Upon arrival, he was quarantined at HCM City’s District 7 Hospital and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on June 26.

He is now being treated at HCM City’s Củ Chi Field Hospital.

A total of 6,889 people who had close contact with patients or were in pandemic-hit areas are now under medical monitoring or quarantine, of which 117 are at hospitals, 6,062 are at quarantine areas and 710 people are at their accommodations.

Meanwhile, the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases on Friday afternoon announced that one male patient at the hospital recovered from COVID-19, bringing Việt Nam’s total recovered cases to 330.

The 27-year-old patient was among 345 Vietnamese citizens who returned from Russia on a flight which landed at Vân Đồn International Airport on May 13.

The patient was taken to the hospital on May 17. He was given the all-clear on Friday after testing negative for SARS-CoV-2 twice.

He would continue to be under quarantine for follow-up health monitoring.

Of the active COVID-19 patients nationwide, four cases have tested negative for coronavirus once and three others negative at least twice.
