Pilot arrested at Louisville airport on 'extraordinarily disturbing' child exploitation charges
A pilot was arrested at the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport on Friday for allegedly possessing explicit images of minors.
Police said Robert Brown, 47, of New Albany, was taken into custody after exiting a commercial flight that he was a passenger on.
A warrant for Brown's arrest was issued for two counts of child exploitation.
"The New Albany Police Criminal Investigation's team has thoroughly investigated this matter which involves extraordinarily disturbing factors," New Albany Police Chief Todd Bailey said. "I would like to thank the Louisville International Airport Police for their assistance in apprehending Mr. Brown."
Officials confirmed Brown is a pilot for Spirit Airlines and was hired in September 2019. All flying has been removed from his schedule.
"Spirit Airlines has recently learned of the arrest and is taking appropriate action. We are in contact with local authorities," the airline said in a statement.
Brown is being held at Metro Corrections as he awaits extradition to Indiana.
