Pune: UK-based aerospace parts supplier GKN Aerospace will invest over Rs 70 crore ($10 million) to open its all-new facility for Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems (EWIS) in Pune.
“The facility will come up in Chakan and employ about 200 people by 2020-end,” the company said, adding that it would create 200 jobs in 2020, growing to 800 within five years.

“GKN Aerospace will recruit a significant number of women operators and engineers, who will be provided on-site training. A team of 30 people has been built to date,” the company said in a statement, adding that the new site would focus on the assembly of wiring systems for commercial aircraft and aero-engines like the Airbus A320neo, Boeing 737, 777X and Boeing 787.
It also said the Pune facility would operate alongside the existing joint venture for wiring systems in Bengaluru, which was serving the defence market.
