Kathmandu, September 29

Himalaya Airlines, a Nepal-China joint venture private international carrier of the country, is preparing to transfer the Chinese ownership of the company. Currently, Tibet Airlines has 49 per cent share in the company while Yeti World Investment Pvt Ltd has 51 per cent share. However, now the company is preparing to transfer the share of Tibet Airlines to Tibet Civil Aviation Development and Investment Company, said Vijay Shrestha, vice president of Himalaya Airlines.

With this new organisational structure the new Chinese firm will have 65 per cent share while Nepali company will hold 35 per cent share in the company, Shrestha said. “The Tibet Civil Aviation Development and Investment Company is a state-owned company,” he said. “Although the Nepali company will have 35 per cent share at the moment that ratio is likely to be revised in the coming days.”

Along with the ownership structure, Himalaya Airlines has also changed its brand identity with a new logo.

Organising a press meet today, the airline company has launched its new logo depicting the soaring eagle, through the composition of three ‘A’s in ‘Himalaya’. Changing the white and blue branding colours of company’s logo it has launched a logo with new branding colours — blue, orange and white — to represent harmony, trustworthiness and fairness.

On the occasion, the airline company also announced that it will operate commercial flights to Beijing Daxing International Airport from the end of October. “We have already received a slot at the newly constructed Beijing Daxing

International Airport and now we are preparing to operate regular flights from the end of October, however, we are yet to decide on the exact schedule for the flight,” said Ujjwala Dali, head of Department of Brand and Service Improvement.

She further said with plans to add two new aircraft in its fleet in the near future, the company is all set to fly to new destinations as well as resume operations to old destinations. “As we had halted our flights to Malaysia due to issues of labour permit, now, we are planning to resume flights to Malaysia probably from next month.”
