Defunct Nairit plant, Armavia have 47 billion drams in outstanding tax obligations, reveals SRC

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 20, ARMENPRESS. The defunct Nairit plant and the defunct Armavia airline have a total of nearly 47 billion drams in outstanding tax obligations, State Revenue Committee President Davit Ananyan said at parliamentary debates on the bill to amend the tax code in response to a question from opposition MP Sergey Bagratyan from the Prosperous Armenia (BHK) party.

Bagratyan noted that the bill envisages the return of 56 billion drams of VAT debit remainders to businesses.  He asked Ananyan to present how many of these businesses have outstanding tax obligations to the tax authority.

“The overdue debts which are expected to be returned are 1,4 billion drams. There is also nearly 47 billion in obligations of two businesses which are currently undergoing bankruptcy proceedings. One is the Nairit plant, the other Armavia. This two major companies will not receive the more than 50 billion drams that we plan to return to taxpayers [companies],” Ananyan said.

Out of the 56 billion nearly 5,3 billion belongs to 181 organizations currently in bankruptcy proceedings.

Ananyan said Nairit owes the state 10 billion drams while Armavia owes 37 billion drams.
