Ever Rich says Merry (go-round) Christmas at Taiwan Taoyuan Airport

TAIWAN. Ever Rich Duty Free has introduced the first merry-go-round attraction at an airport as part of an ambitious Christmas campaign at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport.

The airside 4m high x 6m wide carousel has attracted interest from domestic and international tourists of all ages, said Ever Rich.

The carousel has proved popular with travellers of all ages

The retailer has traditionally celebrated Christmas with passengers at its various Taiwanese airport locations. The first such event this year was a charity concert dubbed ‘Love Go Round’ at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport.

Ever Rich also held a Christmas tree lighting ceremony on the same day. The 10m tall Christmas tree is an iconic photo point for travellers every festive season, Ever Rich said. Popular Taiwanese singer Hsu Jiaying was on hand to sing an array of Christmas songs to passengers.

Taiwan’s top tennis player Kelly Chang and Taoyuan City Mayor Wen-tsan Zheng attended the concert, mixing with airport passengers. Ever Rich chose the occasion to renew its sponsorship of Kelly Chang, underlining the company’s long-term support of Taiwan sports.

As always, Ever Rich’s Christmas campaign has a charity focus. This year, the retailer is working with ROC Down Syndrome Foundation. In Taiwan, one child in every 1,263 births has Down Syndrome.

These children deserve to be valued members of society, Ever Rich said. To support that cause this Christmas season, Ever Rich Duty Free Shop is hosting a ‘DIY Music Box – Love Go Round’ event at four major airports in North, Central and South Taiwan.

Customers who make a purchase at Ever Rich Duty Free will receive a DIY music box on which they can write a blessing. Ever Rich will collect all the music boxes and send them to people who have Down Syndrome.

The retailer has also purchased 1,000 soaps which are handmade by people with Down Syndrome. These will be given to participants of the music box making.

In other news, Taoyuan City Mayor Wen-tsan Zheng praised Taoyuan Airport’s employees for their contribution to the airport’s success. In recent years it has won ACI and Skytrax Best Airport and Best Airport Service awards.

Zheng also recognised the importance of the collaboration between the city, airport and transportation hub MRT. The MRT metro launched in March this year and has 100,000 passengers use it each day, 30% of which are people travelling to the airport.

Zheng added that the city will give its full support to Taoyuan Airport and its third terminal and third runway projects.
