LSU vs. Mississippi State: The Tigers stay hot in Death Valley with 19-3 win over Bulldogs

LSU heads into its bye week with a 19-3 win in Death Valley over Mississippi State.

Both teams struggled early to convert a first down, combining for eight first-half three-and-outs. LSU took the lead early in the first on a Nick Brossette 1-yard touchdown, following an interception by LSU's outside linebacker, Michael Divinity Jr. in the Bulldogs' first drive of the game.

Mississippi State's quarterback Nick Fitzgerald struggled all night long. He was 8 for 24 and passed for only 59 yards. He was intercepted four times and now has more interceptions on the season than he does touchdowns. 

Mississippi State will look to bounce back against Texas A&M in Week 9, meanwhile, LSU will face Alabama in Week 10.

Final: LSU 19, Mississippi State 3

10:11 p.m.: Interception. Grant Delpit intercepts Nick Fitzgerald at the LSU 5. The clock will run out. LSU wins this one 19-3. 

10:08 p.m.: Nick Fitzgerald completes back-to-back passes for back-to-back first downs to Deddrick Thomas for a 15-yard gain and Nick Gibson for a 12-yard gain to the LSU 27. 

10:05 p.m.: The Tigers are forced to punt. Zach Von Rosenberg's 35-yard punt is down at the MSU 33. 

10:03 p.m.: Clyde Edwards-Helaire runs 10 yards to the LSU 29 for a first down. 

9:57 p.m.: Interception. Nick Fitzgerald is intercepted by John Battle and returned for no yards to the LSU 10. 

9:52 p.m.: That Devin White targeting call could be huge in LSU's upcoming game against Alabama — he'll be out for the first half of that game.

9:51 p.m.: Nick Fitzgerald is intercepted on a pass intended for Jesse Jackson, but Devin White is called for targeting (15 yards) and John Battle is called for unsportsmanlike conduct (15 yards). MSU gets to keep the ball, first down to the MSU 27. 

9:47 p.m.: The defense holds off the Tigers and they are forced to punt. Zach Von Rosenberg's 51-yard punt is out of bounds at the MSU 1. 

9:45 p.m.: Clyde Edwards-Helaire rushes for 11 yards and a first down to the LSU 40.

9:39 p.m.: Mississippi State goes three-and-out. Kody Schexnayder's 42-yard punt is caught by Jonathan Giles at the LSU 29. 

9:35 p.m.: LSU Field Goal. Cole Tracy has been perfect tonight. He hits his fourth field goal of the game, this time a 40-yard attempt, to put the Tigers ahead 19-3.

9:28 p.m.: Nick Brossette rushes for 5 yards and a first down to the LSU 38 to end the third quarter. LSU leads 16-3 with 15 minutes to play.
