Man killed in shooting near Sky Harbor airport in Phoenix identified as 27-year-old Anthony Jamal Ross
A man killed in a Wednesday morning shooting near Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport was identified by his mother as 27-year-old Anthony Jamal Ross.
Officers received reports of gunshots and responded to an area near 24th and Jackson streets just after 9 a.m., Phoenix police spokeswoman Sgt. Maggie Cox said.
They found a man with a gunshot wound who Phoenix Fire Department personnel pronounced dead at the location, Cox said.
Police did not release the man's name, though 50-year-old Sabrina Ross of Detroit later confirmed to The Arizona Republic that her son was the one killed in the shooting.
Officers were working to identify a motive and suspect description as of late morning Wednesday.
