NEW DELHI: Hell hath no fury like a woman cheated, especially if she happens to be tipsy and 37,000 feet above ground when discovering shocking news about the man she loves.
Qatar Airways’ Doha-Bali nonstop flight on Sunday (November 5) had to be diverted to Chennai because an inebriated Iranian woman created a ruckus after she found out that her husband was cheating on her when she unlocked her sleeping husband’s phone by doing his finger scan and saw some content on it, say sources.

The husband was the obvious target of her anger. Co-passengers and crew members who tried to pacify her also became the target of her ire. The uproar compelled the pilots to land the plane mid-way in Chennai. Qatar Airways’ Doha-Bali nonstop flight is almost 10 hours long while Chennai is midway.
After offloading the Iranian couple and their child in Chennai, the Boeing 777 operating Qatar Airways’ flight QR 962 resumed its journey to Denpasar Bali. Since there was no security issue and given the reasoning offered by the woman, authorities in Chennai kept the family at the airport. “They were taken to a room maintained by immigration authorities at Chennai airport,” said a source. Once the woman got a little sober, the family was put on a flight to Kuala Lumpur.
According to the CISF official, the couple headed back home without making it to the beach town of Bali. They had to take a circuitous route back home by first flying to Malaysia and from there to Doha.
Officials of Qatar Airways refused to divulge details about the flyers citing privacyissues. Confirming the case of unruly passenger, a senior official of Central Industrial Security Force said: “On November 5, around 10 am, Qatar Airways flight QR-962 (Doha-Bali) was diverted to Chennai.”

The official added, “A lady along with her husband and a child, all Iranian nationals, were offloaded by Qatar Airline as the lady passenger, who was intoxicated, misbehaved with crew members in the flight. They were sent to Kuala Lumpur by Batik Air flight 6019 for further travel to Doha.”
Qatar Airways said in a statement, “In respect of passenger privacy, we do not comment on individual cases.”
